Branden Hubbell - Program Director
Hello there, I am the Program Director for NV. I will soon be entering my 7th year in the All-Star Cheerleading industry. I started my cheerleading career at Puyallup High School. GO VIKS!!! (Not Curtis Viks hee hee just kidding) While cheering in High School I got my all-star break and was invited to join Northwest Elite All-stars. I cheered for 3 months and then went to Florida to compete in the UCA High School All-Star Nationals Championships. I then became a coach for Northwest Elite. I was an assistant coach for the Small and Large Co-ed teams, as well as the assistant tumbling coach. That year I also cheered on the West Coast Extreme College Open Team, as well as professionally with the Seattle Super Sonics Stunt and Performance team. With West Coast Extreme we went to Las Vegas for the USA Nationals and placed 3rd. The following year I became the Program Director for the Northwest Elite, Tacoma location. Later that year, I found a new home with Washington Cheer Academy. My first year with Washington Cheer Academy I was head coach for the Senior Small Co-ed and the Junior Team. My second year with WCA we went to California for USA Nationals. I also cheered for Vancouver All-Stars Open International Worlds Team while with WCA. This team is based in Canada, and we went to Florida to compete in the Cheerleading Worlds Comeptition and took 7th my first year. After that year I decided to take a break from coaching cheer for awhile. Later that year I went to South Elite and coached with Kim and Tyler for a few months and learned alot. During that time I was also in my second year cheering for Vancouver All-Stars Open International Team. We again went to Flordia for the Worlds Competition, this time we took 4th, thats 4th in the World. Over these last 5 years I have been involved with many different high shools around the area, whether it be for tumbling classes, stunt classes, or doing Camps. During my early summer months I worked for PacWest Spirit Group and worked many summer camps for local high schools and all-star teams. In early 2008 the dream for NV Elite became a reality.... and now, this is where I call home.
George McGuire - Tumbling/Strength and Conditioning Director; Head Coach Sr Co-ed and Sr. All Girl
Tony Wilson - Head Coach Juniors, Coach Senior All Girl, Asst. Tumbling Director
I started my gymnastics training at the age of 5 until the age of 16. At the age of 8 I was invited to train for the 2004 Men’s Gymnastic Olympic Team. My cheer career started at Onalaska High School in 2003. In 2004 I joined and coached for the Twin City Tornadoes, which was an all-star team based out of Chehalis, WA. Participating with this team led me to a whole new world of cheerleading. At the state competition for Twin Cities, I saw Northwest Elite All-Stars. I made my transition to and began training with Northwest Elite as a coach. I was able to further my experience and cheer knowledge while being the Northwest Elite Gym Assistant. I worked at Northwest Elites' Tacoma facility, along with the satellite gym in Olympia. I also coached many tumbling clinics and stunt clinics for Northwest Elite. During my time with Northwest I also cheered for West Coast Extreme College Open team. I went to Las Vegas and placed 3rd with them. I also cheered professionally for the Seattle Super Sonics Stunt and Performance team. The next year I was with Washington Cheer Academy. Together Branden and I coached the Senior Coed and Junior team. I also helped out with Mini’s and Youth. After my stint there, I moved half way across the country to live in Indiana. It was here that I started working for Indiana Cheer Elite (ICE All-Stars). This was probably the best decision of my cheer career- ofcourse next to joining NV!! My knowledge and understanding of All Star Cheer, tumbling, choreography, and much more was greatly increased due to my exposure. While in Indiana I also coached for Middlebury All-Stars. I coached in Indiana for a year and a half before moving back to Washington. Once back in Washington I joined Vancouver All-Stars International Open team and went to Florida to compete in the Cheerleading Worlds Competition and placed 4th in the WORLD. Now the dream of NV is alive and well, and now I have a place that I call home.
T'wina Franklin - Asst Coach, Juniors
I am very excited to be a coach at NV. As a collegiate cheerleader and cheer coach at Life Christian School in Tacoma, WA., I have realized that cheer is my passion. I enjoy mentoring youth and being a positive influence to them. I have coached several sports including basketball and volleyball, however cheer is where my heart is. I attended the University of Puget Sound for undergraduate and graduate school and currently live in Fircrest with my family. If you don't find me coaching, or at home with my family, you can most likely find me on campus with my Alma Mater involved in something. As the Asst Coach for the Juniors and active member of my community, I have found it useful to live by this quote: "Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." (Edmund Burke) Knowing that I can impact my community by impacting the lives of cheerleaders is my small contribution to a very large task. NV is a place that we can raise good citizens for our world in a safe, enriching, positive environment in which each and every child will find growth. GO NV!
Tawni Ulrich - Head Coach Tiny, Mini and Youth Teams; Choreographer
I began training for competitive gymnastics at the age of 4 and from the ages of 12 to 16 I was the Floor Champ, 4 years running. When I was 13 and again at 14, I was Georgia State Champ in the All-Around for gymnastics. At 15 I began coaching gymnastics to the gyms pre-school and tiny program. I eventually worked my way up to teaching the level 4 competitive gymnastic classes. I continued gymnastics up to the age of 16 when I started cheering for Washington Cheer Academy. It was here that I first experienced what all-star cheer was all about. I trained with WCA for 2 years before I injured my knee doing a tumbling pass. I wasn’t going to let my injury get the best of me, so I used the free time to learn as much as I could about All Star Cheer and to further my coaching career. Since WCA I have coached several different high schools around the area in tumbling and stunting. My dream now lives at NV. It is here that I plan to take my cheer career to a new level and to teach each and every child that walks through our doors. NV is a place I call home and I welcome everyone to come join us and continue to build this program into what I know is to become something truly special and great.
Alisha Bright - Mini and Youth Coach, tumbling instructor
I am so excited to continue my love of cheer at NV Elite! I started gymnastics at the age of 5, and competed through Level 8 until I was 14. I cheered my freshman year of high school in San Antonio, TX, and was a member of my high school dance team in University Place, WA for two years. At Western Washington University, I was able to cheer again. I was a member of the WWU Viking program for four years, two of which I both coached and cheered. I have been a gymnastics coach at both the Lakewood and Lynden YMCAs, as well as at Ft. Sam Houston Gymnastics in San Antonio. I currently teach 6th grade science and math at Charles Wright Academy in University Place. I am also the 7th/8th grade tennis coach and was the Upper School dance team coach for 2 years. I truly appreciate the opportunity I’m being given to work with your children in a sport that I love and enjoy! I look forward to being a part of the growth of the teams and programs at NV Elite:-)
Joe Cannon - Gym Assistant Coach
I started at the YMCA coaching gymnastics at a recreational level as my daughter was excelling at becoming a competitive gymnast. I later became a coach at the competitive gymnastic level, coaching Vault, Beam, and Floor tumbling. After leaving the YMCA, I started a small tumbling clinic at Centennial Elementary in Spanaway, WA called SWATS (Students With Athletic Talents). This group toured through other elementary schools and Pacific Lutheran University performing in front students and parents. When my daughter Kendra started cheerleading at Washington Cheer Academy I decided to follow in her interest to learn the sport of cheerleading. I soon became the gym tumbling coach and Junior Team assistant coach. Throughout my time at WCA I learned stunting, and all other aspects of cheerleading. Now, I find my home with NV, coming here with a total of 15 years tumbling experience and 6 years of cheer coaching experience. I will be the Gym Assistant Coach and I look forward to a long and successful relationship with NV Elite.
